Weddings

Hey, I’m Leith Young — a Hobart-based wedding photographer shooting weddings and elopements right across Tasmania (and wherever the road takes us).

I come from a long trade background, so I’m used to showing up, getting on with the job, and keeping things moving without fuss. That carries straight into how I photograph weddings. No awkward posing, no over-directing — just paying attention and capturing what’s actually happening.

Whether it’s a big wedding with everyone there or a small elopement somewhere quiet in Tasmania, I focus on the real stuff: the nerves before the ceremony, the laughs with your mates, the hugs from family, and the moments you don’t even realise are unfolding. That’s the part of the day that matters later on.

My approach is documentary-style wedding photography, with some relaxed portraits when it makes sense. I’ll step in if you need a hand, and step back when you don’t. I’m calm, observant, and there to make things easier — not harder.

I work with couples across Hobart and wider Tasmania who want wedding photos that feel honest, natural, and true to who they are. No trends, no fluff — just solid, meaningful images that hold up years down the track.

Wherever your wedding or elopement is — Hobart, regional Tasmania, or further afield — I’m there to do the job properly and deliver photographs that tell the story of one bloody good day.

I shoot weddings in a documentary style, focusing on real moments as they happen rather than staging or over-directing the day. Working calmly in the background, I capture the emotion, movement, and small details that make weddings in Hobart and across Tasmania feel personal and true.

I’ve photographed weddings and elopements throughout Tasmania, from Hobart to regional and more remote locations, and I’m always happy to travel further when needed. Whether it’s a laid-back elopement or a full wedding celebration, my approach stays the same — solid coverage, no fuss, and wedding photography that reflects the people and place, not trends or templates.

Wedding Photography Across Hobart & Tasmania

I’m a Hobart-based wedding and elopement photographer, and I know how much weight a wedding day carries. It’s not about ticking off photos — it’s about capturing what the day actually felt like. The nerves, the energy, the people, and the moments that matter once the dust settles.

I work closely with each couple to make sure their wedding photography reflects who they are and how the day unfolded. From quiet, intimate ceremonies to big celebrations with family and friends, Tasmania offers some incredible settings — and my job is to document the day honestly, without getting in the way or forcing moments that don’t feel right.

Whether it’s a first look, a quick breather together, or the light dropping at golden hour, I’m there paying attention so those moments don’t get missed.

Elopements Done Properly

Elopements are personal by nature, and I treat them that way. If you’re planning a Hobart elopement or heading somewhere further into Tasmania, I’ll help you find a location that suits you — whether that’s close to the city or somewhere quieter and more remote.

I keep things relaxed and low-pressure, so you can focus on the experience rather than the camera. My role is to document the day as it happens — the laughs, the still moments, the connection — without turning it into a production. You enjoy the moment, I’ll take care of the rest.

Why Work With Me

  • Local Knowledge
As a photographer based in Hobart, I know Tasmania well — the light, the locations, and how quickly conditions can change. That experience matters on a wedding day.

  • Straightforward, Personal Approach
I keep things simple. I take the time to understand what’s important to you and photograph the day in a way that fits, rather than following a template.

  • Natural, Documentary-Style Photography
I focus on candid moments and genuine emotion. No stiff posing, no awkward direction — just honest images that reflect the people and the day as they were.

  • Calm, Reliable Coverage
Weddings move fast. I stay calm, organised, and observant, helping things run smoothly while capturing the moments you’ll want to look back on years from now.

I also shoot portraits, personal branding, commercial work and events, with my Hobart studio available for portrait sessions — check out the portfolio links in the navigation above to see more.
