About Me
Hi, I’m Leith Young — a photographer, a painter, a husband, a dad, and a bloke who’s spent 25 years on the tools learning how to work hard, stay grounded, and deal with pretty much anyone.
I run two businesses: my painting company during the week, and my photography business on weekends (and whenever you need me, really). Having both means I’ve got the flexibility to shift between the two — if a wedding, shoot, or project comes up, I make it work. If I need to be on the tools, I’m there. It keeps life interesting, and it keeps me real.
I’m not the typical “wedding photographer” stereotype.
You won’t catch me rolling up in a blazer with a pocket square.
I turn up in a hoodie, sneakers, tattoos out, and ready to work.
I know what people actually want on their wedding day — someone calm, friendly, organised, and not awkward as hell. Someone who blends in, has a laugh, and makes everyone feel comfortable. That’s me.
I’ve been shooting photos since high school, back when I learned on film and spent hours in the darkroom. Photography has always been my outlet — street photography, portraits, documenting real life, capturing my family, the streets of Hobart, and Melbourne whenever I get the chance. I didn’t stop when it got hard, and I didn’t lose the passion when I turned pro. If anything, I’m more obsessed with it now.
I officially launched my photography business in 2023, and I’ve been lucky enough to shoot weddings, portraits, and events all over Tasmania and interstate.
Whether I’m on a job site or holding a camera, the mindset is the same: show up, be reliable, work hard, treat people well, and do the job properly.
Photography, for me, isn’t just work — it’s personal. It’s about genuine connection, real emotion, and all the little moments that would disappear if someone didn’t freeze them in time. Those quick glances, the nerves, the laughs, the chaos, the love — that’s the stuff I live for.
If you’re after a photographer who’s down-to-earth, flexible, easy to get along with, and genuinely cares about telling your story, let’s chat.
I’d love to hear what you’ve got planned.
